Sugar Alley was a small working-class street which ran from 6th to 9th St. between Market and Arch Sts. The listings for it are thoroughly confusing; the "lower sort," as they would have been called in the 18th century, were mostly renters and moved around a lot, making a solid feel for how the numbering in this alley works quite difficult. Most of the work for this alley has been left for a time when there is more information.
