Steinmetz's Alley was on the east side of 4th Street between Sassafras (Race) and Vine Street. For some yet-unknown reason the 1785 MacPherson listings were divided into East Steinmetz's Alley, West Steinmetz's Alley, and Steinmetz's Alley.
